Assessing Your Roofer: Contacting Referrals

Roofer references are important because they give you a closer look at not just a potential roofer’s capabilities, but how they treat their customers as well. Roofer referrals are not created equal, but you should not have any trouble asking for them from reputable roofers.

Keep the following in mind when assessing roofer referrals:

You Should Have at Least Three Customer Referrals

Ideally, these referrals would come from the last five years and their last five projects. This will give you a more accurate picture because the referrals will be spread out. Consistency is good measure of a roofer that can be trusted. You can ask referrals a whole bunch of questions specific to their project, but the one thing to determine whether or not a contractor is even worth considering is if a previous customer is willing to work with them again.

Referrals From Long-Time Suppliers Are Also Important

This will give you an idea of a roofer’s financial capabilities because you don’t want to be stuck with a roof maintenance and replacement contractor that doesn’t pay their bills. You should also take note of a supplier’s own credibility and how long the supplier has been working with the roofer.
